January Basic Income
I published one piece in January
Both Substack and Patreon remained the same as last month for paid subscribers but Substack gained a free subscriber
I donated $5 of my basic income to Doctors Without Borders
I used $69.63 to purchase healthcare supplies after getting significantly sick at the end of December and the beginning of January
This was the 12th month that I received a crowdfunded basic income
I was delayed in writing both this month’s piece and last month's pieces because I was very sick after the winter holidays.
I’m happy to share that I’m finally starting to feel like myself again.
My healthcare during the weeks that I was under the weather is directly related to how I spent my basic income for the month.
When I first started to get sick my first thought was “I hope that my son doesn’t also get sick.” I’m happy to share that he didn’t. Thinking that he easily could be showing the same symptoms as me soon I decided to purchase a touchless thermometer as the one thermometer that we had was not as sensory friendly.
I was experiencing a lot of discomfort in my chest so I decided to get a heating pad and a covid test. I tested negative for Covid and the heating pad provided much-needed relief. Lastly, I purchased vapor rub with the remaining amount of the month’s basic income.
This was the first month in a while that I didn’t save any of the basic income I received for the month.
I still gave $5 to Doctors without Borders because I still think that it is super important to give humanitarian aid if you have the means. Moving forward, I plan to sign up to give monthly so I don’t accidentally forget to give a microdonation to humanitarian aid.
This was the 12th month that I received a crowdfunded basic income. I plan on publishing a piece analyzing how I spent a year’s worth of basic income and look forward to keeping track of the next 12 months.
